Shri Mangesh Temple, Goa

Sri Mangesh Temple is the most prominent among the temples in Goa, situated at a distance of 23 kms from Panaji. The Presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, thus accountable in gathering Shiva devotees from every nook and corner, which makes it as one of the mostly visited shrine in Goa. As per Legends, Sri Mangesh temple at Mangueshi in Ponda, Taluka is actually connected with Goddess Parvati, Shiva's consort. She came to Goa in search of her divine spouse, who had left her alone in their mountainous land after a disagreement. Thousands of believers come here yearly, to take refuge in the great temple of Shiva-Parvati.
