The sanctuary is visited by different kinds of people ranging from scientists, students, lovers of nature and common public. It is spread over an area of 540 sq. kms in the hill region. B. R. Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is home to many unique plant and animal species. One can find rare and endangered species of plants and animals such as bonnet macaque, civet, common langur, elephant, four-horned antelope, gaur, jungle cat, leopard, Malabar giant squirrel, mongoose, porcupine, sambar, sloth bear, spotted deer tiger, wild dog and wild pig. Apart from this there is a rich habitat of birds and butterflies. The place is also known for its adventure tourism.

Various animal species found in the sanctuary include, bonnet macaque, civet, common langur, elephant, four-horned antelope, gaur, jungle cat, leopard, Malabar giant squirrel, mongoose, porcupine, sambar, sloth bear, spotted deer tiger, wild dog and wild pig. One can also find a variety of birds such as crested hawk eagle, Malabar whistling thrush, paradise flycatcher, racquet-tailed drongo and yellow-throated bulbul. The place is a safe habitat for unique variety of exotic butterflies.
